Reviews

Are they to be trusted? Well of course I am in control of the reviews and obviously I am not going to add anything I don’t like. But the reviews on this page are genuine and written by those named. In the spirit of full disclosure, I am going to mention a few of the less than happy response topics I have received from customers over the years.

I cannot download the pattern that I purchased from you and it is your fault.

I paid $4 for a queen size blanket and have not received it yet, (think they missed the digital pattern part of the advertisment).

I bought your pattern twice and now insist on a refund.

Your graphics hurt my eyes.

You use too many pictures.

You don’t have enough pictures.

I used chunky yarn instead of fingering weight and my blanket is too big.

Reviews can form an important part of maintaining a business. If you try one of my patterns from any of my platforms, be it Ravelry, Etsy, Lovecrafts or my webpage, please take the time to do a (hopefully nice) review.

Now that we have that out of the way, we can move to the nice reviews!

I flew through this pattern. It was so fun and addictive. I highly recommend this if you like to crochet. It was challenging and fun! I love the quirky look!

I found the pattern easy to read and so once you find your groove it will go pretty steady.

I know I have favoritism towards Sue Stapleton’s patterns since I do them all the time. But I’m going to be honest when I work with other designer’s patterns they don’t have the detail that she puts into hers. She includes graphs, closeup photos on those stubborn rows and has it written very clearly. She also provides “how to” on those unfamiliar stitches you may not have practice yet. I was just grumbling on the last project I had from another designer and I told her, she has me spoiled with how smooth her patterns are.

Six Wishes for a Dragonfly Blanket

I’ve been a longtime crocheter – encompassing several decades – and I’ve made many projects. I really appreciate a conscientious and creative designer. As a longtime member of the Crochet Guild of America, I’ve been blessed to have met and encountered a wide variety of excellent artists. So when I come across one who is exceptional, I am happy to tell others about them.

As a big fan of dragonflies, I was immediately drawn to Auburncraft’s “Six Wishes for a Dragonfly” hexagonal blanket. Not only was the shape of the blanket unique, but the filet dragonflies were like nothing I’d seen before. The pattern was exceptionally well written – and not only gives written instructions, but full stitch counts for each row, pictures of what finished rows should look like, pictures of special stitches (with how-to instructions), and charts. No matter how you best read patterns, Sue’s designs are explained in a way that nearly every crocheter can understand and translate into their own beautiful creation.

The various sections of the project provide just the right amount of texture: the filet dragonflies, filet chevrons, popcorns, puffs, and lace edges keep the project interesting and you will not get bored with the stitches. As you continue onward, you can start to see the blanket take shape and evolve. Although this would be a beautiful blanket in a single color, using a gradient cake adds dimension and additional interest to the blanket.

I’ve spent decades collecting patterns from various designers. I think Sue Stapleton / Auburncrafts creates some of the most unique and well written designs currently on the market. Her items are beautifully designed, they are exceptionally well written, and even a novice crocheter can create a treasured heirloom from Sue’s designs. I would (and have) happily purchased additional designs from Auburncrafts and have found them to be creative and easy to follow.

To be sure, this is a substantial project that takes some dedicated time to complete, but the end product turned into one of my favorite pieces. I’ve received raving compliments from crafters and non crafters alike, and the blanket has found a home in my new car – whose color it coincidentally matches! (or maybe I just chose the car color to match the blanket, I’ll never tell!)

I look forward to seeing what new gems Auburncrafts comes up with, and I know that whatever Auburn project I start will be well explained, interesting and well written!

Beautiful designs and every one a truly unique piece. I have made quite a number of Auburncraft Designs patterns by this stage and not one has yet disappointed. Filled full to the brim of photos and description of stitches, you cannot go wrong as she takes your hand and guides you through the pattern. For those more experienced there are easy to read charts. Nothing is left to chance or just winging it. If you purchase an Auburncraft pattern you are buying quality from a very talented person. Also Sue is very happy for you to contact her should you run into an issue. In all, I see myself buying all these designs to add to collection. I may have to live to 120, but hey ho.
